Greenhills

The Greenhills Art Centre's artist-in-residence programme and workshops runs from April to November each year. The Centre is located in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia, 15 minutes from York and 90 minutes from Perth. Upstairs the property comprises 8 period feature guest bedrooms, three shared bathroom and three shared toilet facilities. Downstairs there is a formal lounge, formal dining, commercial kitchen and a further four showers and toilets. There is also a large wrap around verandah, games room, bar area, as well as a 250sqm working studio for use by the residents during their stay. The residency includes full board, free wi-fi, laundry, and 24-hour access to a shared air-conditioned studio.

The Greenhills Art Centre provides a perfect environment to foster creative thinking with the opportunity to interact with other artists or to find a quiet corner for those looking for a little solitude during the day.

Our objective is to provide a beautiful and transformative experience for residents. A place to not only create art, but to recharge, inspire and to make life-long memories.

The residency provides time and space for self-led projects. Social interactions, creativity, and collaboration underscore life at Greenhills and residents are an integral part of the expanded community during their stay.

Printmaking Retreat

This RETREAT aims to explore in depth the combinations of traditional and experimental methods of printmaking. Particularly traditional processes like drypoint, mezzotint and others that, when combined with more readily known methods, will help us to better understand our own practice.

Generating plates of different materials like zinc, polycarbonate, cardboard, tetra pack will be the main focus of this first session. Then by proofing what we made (with different colours) we will gain a better understand of where we can improve and explore further the outcomes of mono printing, gum print and other pictorial methods for generating unique states.

The goal of this 3 .5 day activity is to give participants the opportunity to expand on their own creative identity by exploring different methods of printmaking. (includes 2 bonus one-on-one Q&A follow-up zoom session post retreat).

Join multi award-winning artist Leanne Pearson in her much sort after Figures in Oils retreat at the Greenhills Art Centre.

Get confident with adding figures into your paintings.

Over 3 full days Leanne will instruct you on how to loosen up your painting style whilst building your confidence to create expressive paintings, glowing with vibrant colour and depth.

Note: Please note: some experience is necessary. You may use acrylics if you prefer, as both mediums are welcome.

You will learn repeatable strategies for mixing colours, learning how to neutralize colours without losing vibrancy so that colours remain clean, not muddy.
You will also create your own studio colour reference book - your personal reference diary. This workshop is inclusive of of tuition, all meals and accommodation.
