With extensive experience teaching in Australia and internationally, Judy is passionate about helping
students embrace sketching and watercolour, offering personalized guidance, demonstrations, and expert
tips. She encourages confidence and creativity, often reminding students to “put your brave pants on and
have a go!”

In this immersive workshop, you’ll create stunning sketchbooks featuring expressive lettering, dynamic
layouts, and vibrant watercolour scenes. Capture the essence of your journey, sketching native flora,
charming local settings, your accommodation, and even your meals. Whether you are new to sketching or a
seasoned artist, this retreat is designed to inspire, challenge, and ignite your creativity.

The workshop will include sessions in the spacious newly created studio at Greenhills Art Centre as well as
sketching and painting on location. In the surrounding area you will find historic buildings, landscapes, and
breathtaking vistas which will be our source of inspiration.

We will work mainly in sketchbooks using pen, pencil and watercolour to create images inspired by our
location and surroundings.

Itinerary:

Monday

AM: Airport/hotel pick up

PM: Settle into room, orientation and welcome dinner

Tuesday, to Saturday—5 full day workshop in the spacious newly created studio at Greenhills Art Centre as well as sketching and painting on location. There will be a break for lunch (a picnic lunch will be provided when on location. 

Dinner in the dining room with time to relax in the evening. 

The studio is open in the evenings for those wanting to work on their own project after hours.

Sunday - Breakfast, show and tell, clean up, airport drop off (if required).

Bio
With a 30-year career spanning both creative and commercial realms, Judy is a versatile multidisciplinary
artist, working in Gouache, Acrylics, and Soft Pastels. Her diverse background includes running a screen-
printing and design company in the UK, designing T-shirts and greeting cards, teaching Batik in Malaysia,
and exhibiting her work across Australia and the UK.
Her art has been featured in sketching books, hotels, restaurants, and even an American Express ad
campaign—you may have seen her work without even realizing it!
