Johanna initially established herself as a successful wildlife artist showcasing her work at solo and group exhibitions, art fairs, open studios and selling prolifically through an online gallery. In more recent times she has expanded her repertoire to include the genre of still life. Johanna states that she has long been captivated by the extraordinary beauty that resides within the seemingly ordinary, seeking to do justice to the humble everyday item to uncover the hidden poetry and elegance in objects that often go unnoticed. Her passion for still life led her to take up study in Italy at the Florence Academy of Art in the summer of 2023 and through this creative journey, she has embraced the classical methods to harness the power of realism, chiaroscuro, and composition to breathe life into each painting. Johanna’s time in Italy was the catalyst for Johanna and Greg opening the Greenhills Art Centre in the hope that others may experience the rewards of stepping away from the distractions of everyday life, to dedicate time to work in a creative space alongside other creatives.
